The objective of this course is to provide learners on the compliance of Workplace Safety and Health practices in accordance with legislative requirements to ensure safe work practices, understand their roles and responsibility in WSH as an employee, enable them to identify unsafe work practices and unsafe work conditions, and also prepare them on how to react in case of emergencies.

At the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the important of Workplace Safety and Health
  • Identify the unsafe acts or conditions present in the work environment
  • Follow Workplace Safety and Health practices in the workplace
  • Correctly report unsafe acts or conditions according to the organisational reporting procedure

Learners are assumed to have:

  • Employability Skills (ES) Workplace Literacy level 1 and above.
  • Be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to ES Workplace Numeracy level 1 and above.
  • Minimum of three months of work experience in the environmental services industry or with the interest to be employed in the industry.
  • 7 hours of classroom and practical training.
  • 1 hour of assessment including oral, and practical assessment.
For AOP:
  • 1 hour of assessment including written, oral, and practical assessment.

This unit covers the following knowledge items:

  1. Importance of WSH
  2. Organisational reporting procedures for WSH related matters
  3. Common risks and hazards involved in environmental services industry
  4. WSH risk control measures
  • General Cleaner, Rest Room Cleaner, Healthcare Cleaner, Dishwasher, Refuse Cleaner and Refuse Collector.
  • Workers who need to identify his responsibilities under the WSH Act and to acquire basic skill sets such as hazard identification and adhering to organisation risk control procedures in the Environmental Cleaning Sector.
